Clean and safe drinking water is vital. One way to keep water pure is to clean your portable water dispenser or cooler often. It’s preferred to clean your water dispenser every time you change the water bottle. Here are some methods to clean your water dispenser thoroughly.

How to Clean your Portable Water Dispenser

Start cleaning your water dispenser every time you change the water bottle or every six weeks, whichever comes first. You can refer to this step-by-step cleaning guide the next time you clean it.

Step 1: Unplug Your Water Dispenser and Remove the Water Bottle.

Before starting anything, ensure the appliance is unplugged to avoid exposure to live electricity and other potential hazards. This step is crucial to make sure you can clean it safely, even with accidental spillage. Once unplugged, you can proceed to detach the water bottle from the dispenser. Now you can begin cleaning the portable water dispenser.

Step 2: Take Off and Wash the Water Guard and Parts with Warm Water and Soap.

Carefully remove the water dispenser’s guard and parts for thorough cleaning. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions in extracting the pieces to guarantee there will be no damage during removal. Once removed, you can wash off the parts with warm water and mild dishwashing soap. Proceed to gently scrub these pieces with a sponge and rinse them thoroughly. After washing, leave them to air dry or use a clean microfibre dish towel to dry.

Step 3: Prepare a Natural Vinegar Cleaning Solution.

Vinegar cleaning solutions are a natural way to cleanse your portable water dispenser. Begin by mixing 1 cup of white vinegar with every 3 cups of hot water. Place the mixture on a bucket and fill the dispenser’s reservoir with the solution. Use a long brush to scrub inside, and let the vinegar solution soak for a few minutes. Move on to the small pipes and ensure that the solution enters from the inside.

Step 4: Drain and Rinse out the Cleaning Solution Thoroughly

Start draining out the vinegar solution from the reservoir. After that, you can rinse the reservoir with pure water to wash the vinegar out. You can use the scrubbing brush to scrub off any remnants. Do this repeatedly to ensure no vinegar taste or smell remains on the water dispenser. Dispose of the solution down the drain after use.

Step 5: Remove and Wash the Taps and Drip Tray

Your portable water dispenser’s tap and drip tray are the most exposed, so it’s crucial to clean these often. Remove these parts carefully and clean them as you would your dishes; warm water and dishwashing soap, gently scrubbing the parts. Rinse them thoroughly and allow them to dry completely. If the tap isn’t removable, clean it with a soft cloth and warm soapy water.

Step 6: Wipe the Portable Water Dispenser’s Exterior

Clean your water dispenser’s exterior with a non-abrasive cloth and warm soapy water. Wipe the body using a soft cloth to ensure the exterior doesn’t get any scratches.

Step 7: Put Back all the Parts, Add a New Water Bottle, and Plug-In.

After all the removed parts have dried completely, you can put them back on the portable water dispenser. Ensure that they’re tightly secured, then add a new water bottle. Once the new bottle is attached, you can plug in your spotless water dispenser and drink clean, refreshing water.

Make it a habit to clean and disinfect your portable water dispenser. Not only will it ensure your drinking water is safe, but it will keep your water dispenser in spotless condition.
